The precise length of an optical fiber cable is critical to overall system performance. The most critical requirement for this parameter is apparent for applications in a variety of industrial and scientific domains: from interferometry to RF-over-fiber, from signal synchronization to optical metrology.

Upon request, Diamond can offer patch cords manufactured with an enhanced-precision control on the fiber length. Optical cables up to 25 m can be fabricated with sub-millimeter reproducibility. Such tight length-tolerances are indirectly achieved through reflectometry measurements of the optical latency using short picosecond pulses.
